Job purpose

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for providing a variety of external and internal customers with medical and scientific information on the appropriate utilization of Sun Pharma dermatology products with more general information about their therapeutic area and disease state. This field-based position will proactively build healthcare provider support, by using a scientific approach that is aligned with the Brand Team objectives and therapeutic area Medical Plan. The MSL will need to be a credible and valued representative of Sun Pharma leading in a variety of interactions, which include face to face and Peer to Peer (examples: ad boards, CME, etc.) with key stakeholders across their regions. The MSLs will engage with HCPs, NPs, & local Regional Dermatology groups. They will be trained to respond to complex inquiries in a scientific, fair-balanced, compliant manner serving as a critical field medical resource to these HCPs and also, internal SUN sales and market access constituents.

Duties and responsibilities

The role will support a territory that includes: 50 KOLs Distributed across QC Province and Atlantic Canada.

  • Interact with healthcare providers and grow relationships with thought leaders to communicate and advance the scientific platform as aligned with SUN’s corporate goals and objectives.
  • As these relationships develop, some HCPs will be recognized as being potential advocates for the use of our products, possible speakers or possible investigators in clinical trials. The MSL will develop strategies to develop selected HCPs as Key Opinion Leaders depending on their specific interests, enthusiasm for, or experience with our products.
  • Communicate complex scientific information, provide services if appropriate like slides, scientific literature acquisition, and or PSP service offerings, and research concepts to HCPs
  • With a field-based position, territory planning is a key activity. This will be done in collaboration with the Medical Advisor along with the commercial team and will involve identifying a focus of effort and the metrics for customer calls. The plan will have to be dynamic with respect to the specific brand, territory and the life cycle of the product line. That is, the focus of effort may vary from time to time and the territory plan will have to be flexible to accommodate for this.
  • As part of this plan, together with Marketing, the National CME Provider, and with input from the Sales Representatives, develop a regional Peer to Peer Engagement plan, and jointly execute in a timely manner on budget as a team
  • The MSL will play a critical role in internal training and communication with the Medical, Brand Team and territory managers. Knowledge sharing, including opinion leader and site profiling, and education both internally and externally will be a key area of responsibility.
  • Provide clinical and economic value information to thought leaders, payers and formulary decision makers when call upon by access or aligned to the brand plan
  • Identify and train members of SUN’s speakers’ bureau and ensure they are updated on new data
  • Respond to requests for investigator sponsored research (ISS) proposals and transit them into Sun and present the research to Sun for review. They will become the point of contact with the HCPs if ISS research is accepted and funded by Sun
  • Support SUN sponsored research
  • Provide feedback based on field interactions with healthcare providers and Thought Leaders to SUN stakeholders
  • Respond to scientific inquires consistent with the MSL compliance standards,
  • Foster scientific relationships between SUN and Fellows in training
  • Lead and/or participate on committees or project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership
  • Seek out opportunities to support the MSL value proposition, achieve results and set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating SUN values and leadership attributes
  • Must have the ability to gain customer feedback, uncover business opportunities for SUN and pair customer's unmet needs with available internal resources.
  • Must be a strong team player who can effectively interface with SUN clinical and commercial personnel, as well as aide in training of SUN staff.
  • Demonstrate tact and professionalism when communicating and interacting with others
  • Comply with all applicable SUN Health Care Compliance SOPs and US regulations

Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)

Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

Qualifications

Required

  • Medical Doctorate (MD), PhD, or PharmD preferred; however, a minimum Master’s degree in Healthcare and/or a healthcare professional background will be considered
  • 1–3 years of field medical experience in a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written)
  • Strong presentation and education skills with the ability to communicate clinical and non‑clinical technical information effectively
  • Pharmaceutical business and market knowledge and experience
  • Excellent teaching skills with the ability to present and discuss scientific material clearly and concisely
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Background in Immunology and/or Dermatology
  • Proven ability to develop and foster peer‑to‑peer relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Responsabilités et tâches principales

Le poste couvre un territoire comprenant environ 50 leaders d’opinion clés (KOL) répartis à travers la province de Québec et le Canada atlantique.

  • Établir et entretenir des relations professionnelles avec les professionnels de la santé et les leaders d’opinion afin de communiquer et de promouvoir la plateforme scientifique, en conformité avec les objectifs et la stratégie corporative de Sun Pharma.
  • Identifier, au fur et à mesure du développement des relations, les professionnels de la santé pouvant agir comme défenseurs des produits, conférenciers potentiels ou investigateurs dans des essais cliniques. Élaborer et mettre en œuvre des stratégies visant à développer certains professionnels de la santé en tant que leaders d’opinion clés, en fonction de leurs intérêts, de leur engagement et de leur expérience avec les produits de Sun Pharma.
  • Communiquer des informations scientifiques complexes et, lorsque pertinent, fournir des services de soutien tels que des présentations, l’accès à la littérature scientifique, des offres de services de soutien aux patients (PSP) et des concepts de recherche.
  • Élaborer et exécuter un plan de territoire, activité clé du poste terrain, en collaboration avec le ou la Conseiller(ère) médical(e) et les équipes commerciales. Ce plan comprend l’identification des priorités stratégiques et des indicateurs de performance des interactions clients, et doit demeurer flexible selon la marque, le territoire et le cycle de vie des produits.

  • Jouer un rôle clé dans la formation interne et la communication avec les équipes médicales, l’équipe de marque et les gestionnaires de territoire. Le partage des connaissances, incluant le profilage des leaders d’opinion et des sites, ainsi que l’éducation interne et externe, constitue une responsabilité essentielle.
  • Fournir, sur demande ou en alignement avec le plan de marque, des informations cliniques et pharmaco‑économiques aux leaders d’opinion, aux payeurs et aux décideurs en matière de formulaires.
  • Identifier, former et soutenir les membres du bureau de conférenciers de Sun Pharma et veiller à la mise à jour continue de leurs connaissances scientifiques.
  • Répondre aux demandes de recherche à l’initiative des investigateurs (ISS), assurer leur transmission interne et présenter les propositions à Sun Pharma pour évaluation. Agir comme point de contact principal avec les investigateurs lorsque les projets ISS sont approuvés et financés.
  • Soutenir les projets de recherche commandités par Sun Pharma.
  • Fournir une rétroaction structurée aux parties prenantes internes de Sun Pharma à partir des interactions terrain avec les professionnels de la santé et les leaders d’opinion.
  • Répondre aux demandes d’information scientifique conformément aux normes de conformité applicables au rôle de MSL.
  • Favoriser le développement de relations scientifiques entre Sun Pharma et les médecins en formation (fellows).
  • Diriger et/ou participer à des comités ou équipes de projets soutenant les stratégies et tactiques MSL, selon les mandats confiés par la direction MSL.
  • Identifier des occasions de démontrer la valeur ajoutée du rôle MSL, d’atteindre les résultats attendus et de servir de modèle en incarnant de façon constante les valeurs et les qualités de leadership de Sun Pharma.
  • Recueillir la rétroaction des clients, identifier des opportunités d’affaires pour Sun Pharma et faire le lien entre les besoins non comblés des clients et les ressources internes disponibles.
  • Faire preuve d’un fort esprit d’équipe et collaborer efficacement avec les équipes cliniques et commerciales de Sun Pharma, incluant le soutien à la formation du personnel interne.
  • Faire preuve de tact, de professionnalisme et d’éthique dans toutes les communications et interactions.

Exigences requises

  • Doctorat en médecine (MD), doctorat (PhD) ou doctorat en pharmacie (PharmD) préféré; à défaut, une maîtrise dans le domaine de la santé et/ou une formation professionnelle en soins de santé sera considérée.
  • De un à trois ans d’expérience terrain dans un rôle de Medical Science Liaison (MSL).
  • Bilinguisme français et anglais, tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.
  • Excellentes compétences en présentation et en formation, avec la capacité de communiquer efficacement des informations techniques cliniques et non cliniques.
  • Bonne connaissance du marché et des activités de l’industrie pharmaceutique.
  • Excellentes aptitudes pédagogiques, avec la capacité de présenter et de discuter du matériel scientifique de manière claire et concise.
  • Solides compétences interpersonnelles, organisationnelles, de travail d’équipe, ainsi que de communication écrite et verbale.
