Job description

Summary of responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager, Diagnostic Services and under the supervision of the Nuclear Medicine Charge Technologist, the technologist will perform all required Nuclear Medicine examinations according to prescribed standards as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care. He/she will produce images following departmental protocols, utilize all protective radiation safeguards, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform daily quality controls on our products and equipment. He/she will document all appropriate information in the radiology information system and uphold all policies and procedures of the department and organization.

Requirements of the job

• Current Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario with Designation of Nuclear Medicine certification
• 2 years minimum technical experience in Nuclear Medicine
• Recent relevant experience
• I.V Certification and experience administering radiopharmaceuticals
• Proficiency with Nuclear Medicine equipment and associated medical devices
• Excellent computer skills and good working knowledge of HIS, Ris and PACS
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
• Proven knowledge and experience of routine quality control procedures specific to Nuclear Medicine
• Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well with multiple interruptions
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Must meet physical demands of position including lifting over 60 lbs. and withstand constant standing and/or walking.
• Current certification in BCLS
• Demonstrated regular/punctual attendance
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
• Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French) – and testing completed
