Ontario Health at Home is looking for a Network Administrator who will report to the Manager of information Technology. The Network Administrator is responsible for optimal performance of the IT environment and for all aspects of network administration, including servers, maintaining maximum network availability, and supporting all systems and services, desktop systems, communications hardware / software, and office systems at Ontario Health at Home.

What will you do?

  • Leads, participates and delivers on network infrastructure and networking projects; including but not limited to, support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and system software in conjunction with the IT team
  • Develops strategies for client / server implementations; implements and maintains the infrastructure required to support those strategies
  • Oversees installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user desktop / laptops
  • Installs and configures security related software and hardware, including anti-virus / anti-spam, hardening of operating systems, and other network devices
  • Configures and troubleshoots servers, including SharePoint, MS SQL Server, MS fax, print server, file shares, application, backup, VOIP (Mitel based) and Hyper-V servers, Tape backup system and their associated operating systems and software. Azure Cloud Administration.
  • Administer and maintain end user Azure AD hybrid accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Monitors security logs from various security devices, including servers, Firewalls, and network switches / routers. Reviews network system event logs daily and corrects any issues or problems related to the network, network devices, and servers.
  • Conducts research on network, data and voice products, services, protocols, and standards in support of infrastructure design efforts, procurement activities, and to gather data pertaining to confidential business needs, and using the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate network requirements
  • Reviews and monitors for compliance with departmental technical policies, protocols, procedures and systems security access for the IT Infrastructure
  • Creates and maintains inventories and documentation for various infrastructure components.
  • Documents and manages the network processes, network infrastructure assets, licenses, maintenance and warranty contracts
  • Plans, coordinates and schedules updates to network hardware, software and supporting infrastructure as directed by the Manager, IT
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots network problems; collaborates with peers and escalates problems to Ontario Health, vendor, and IT leaders to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
  • Updates and maintains electronic copies of network diagrams, network documentation and network configuration documents.

Maintains network infrastructure software and performs (or ensures that it is performed) regular backups of all network management servers and devices (e.g. Network switches, routers, access servers)

  • Engages in data collection and analysis efforts to support the organization's confidential strategic vision
  • Researches and recommends new technologies and upgrades to the network infrastructure; tests and deploys new network technologies
  • Responsible for the virtual and clustered environment and associated storage systems (Storage area network administrator - SAN Administrator)
  • Acts as hands-on project lead in the design and review of existing and new implementations for servers, storage systems and network infrastructure
  • Liaises with project teams to provide technical input for project planning ensuring the quality and timeliness of the technical deliverables
  • Collaborates with other teams to resolve issues and satisfy business requirements and continuity
  • What must you have?

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Science or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum three (3) years network management experience, supporting a Windows environment
  • Strong knowledge and training in Windows environments using MS Exchange, IIS, DHCP, DNS, MS Teams, MS SharePoint and SCCM.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in LAN and WAN technology, including configuration, implementation, and administration of network hardware, software and services.
  • Strong working knowledge in implementation and support of Networking Architectures and protocols (TCP / IP, SNMP, Ethernet)
  • Strong working knowledge in implementation and support, and security of Network Operating Systems (Windows Server 2012\2019, Windows 10 / 11)
  • Solid working knowledge of hardware, including server RAID, SCSI, and SAN storage and web application security, and understanding of vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in a Windows environment
