Amazon internships are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day.

Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter / semester / trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes. Key job responsibilities

As a system development engineer intern, you will / may :

• Create, improve, or invent tools and / or applications that are a part of a larger system.
• Build and operate a supportable product or service, and make significant technical contributions to it.
• Write code that is secure, stable, testable, maintainable and has minimal defects.
• Understand a variety of technologies such as hardware, software, networking, and operating systems, and how they interact with one another.
• Build systems and processes that enable other builders through improved safety, agility, and automation.
• Seek to learn the business context and technologies behind your team’s system implementations.

A day in the life

Our internship program provides hands-on learning and building experiences for students who are interested in a career in system engineering. In addition to working on an impactful project, you will have the opportunity to engage with Amazonians for both personal and professional development, expand your network, and participate in fun activities with other interns throughout the summer.
