THE DEPARTMENT PUBLIC WORKS
Public Works provides reliable highquality services to York Region residents and businesses. This includes safely and efficiently moving people goods and services across our growing communities and providing critical infrastructure and services that protect public health and the environment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
York Region is currently looking for an experienced Network Analyst to join our industrial network team. As a Network Analyst SCADA you will be crucial in ensuring reliable and secure communications throughout our Water / Wastewater SCADA network while safeguarding our critical industrial processes. You will be responsible for providing customer support maintenance upgrades system backups and documentation for our technology infrastructure including switches radios firewalls and cellular modems and compute resources. Your experience with cellular communications radio networks and vendor / dark fiber connections will assist us in maintaining and expanding our industrial network. You will work closely with other members of the team to ensure our technology assets are monitored available and of sufficient capacity to support current and future infrastructure initiatives. Finally your knowledge of Cyber Security best practices in both the IT and OT space will ensure a safe and dependable industrial network to support our critical infrastructure.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPPORT MANAGEMENT Track and manage support requests from the PCS / SCADA team ensuring compliance with corporate standards and the Sustainable Water and Sewage Act.
CYBERSECURITY COLLABORATION Work closely with Corporate and PCS Security teams to maintain and monitor SCADA network security systems mitigating potential cybersecurity threats.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT Lead projects to test install configure maintain and repair SCADA data centers and networking components.
CAPACITY PLANNING Liaise with PCS / SCADA to ensure server and network panels are ready to support current and future requirements.
SYSTEM MONTIORING Ensure all SCADA networking and server components are monitored maintained reliable and capable of supporting infrastructure initiatives.
TECHNIICAL SOLUTIONS Collaborate with branch IT vendors and customers to implement technical business solutions and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
DOCUMENTATION Create and maintain detailed documentation and diagrams of SCADA data center networking components.
STANDARD PROCEDURES Develop and document standard operating procedures and firewall configurations to ensure SCADA system security and effective daily operations.
PERFORMANCE METRICS Develop metrics and reports to measure SCADA network performance uptime and utilization.
MAINTENANCE PROCEEDURES Perform monitoring and maintenance procedures on SCADA data center and networking components recommending improvements for reliability and availability.
BACKUP COMPLIANCE Utilize backup software to ensure all server and switch backups and restores are performed in compliance with PCS / SCADA requirements.
TEAM COLLLABORATION Work with PCS / SCADA IT and vendors to configure and support SCADA data center and networking components.
CUSTOMER SERVICE Ensure services meet Regional customer service standards respond to inquiries and resolve concerns.
