Responsibilities include :
- Planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the department program, including recreational, restorative care, pastoral care, social work, music therapy, and volunteers.
- Implementing and evaluating programs addressing the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs of residents.
- Coordinating activities with other departments and informing administration of departmental activities, needs, and issues.
- Developing departmental goals and objectives.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring the programming budget.
- Satisfying health record requirements related to the department (MDS experience an asset).
Qualifications include a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related fields; knowledge of restorative care, holistic care, activation, and dementia care; minimum one-year supervisory experience; experience in planning and evaluating programming for elderly residents; strong communication skills; ability to work independently; knowledge of community resources and standards; and experience with volunteers and spiritual care coordination.
