Job Title: Mechanical Technologist (Plumbing Focus – Residential Projects)
Location: London, Ontario

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a growing consulting engineering firm seeking a Mechanical Technologist with a strong focus on plumbing design for residential projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working on multifamily residential, mixed-use, and low/high-rise developments while being part of a collaborative technical team.

The ideal candidate will have experience preparing plumbing system designs, coordinating with consultants, and supporting projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare design drawings and construction documents for domestic water, sanitary, storm, and venting systems for residential developments.
  • Assist with mechanical layouts for apartment buildings, condominiums, townhomes, and mixed-use projects.
  • Perform plumbing calculations including fixture counts, pipe sizing, and code compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate designs with architects, structural, civil, and electrical teams.
  • Produce detailed drawings using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Support permit and tender submissions.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor inquiries during construction.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to review progress and resolve field issues.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, plumbing codes, and municipal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Minimum 4-8 years of experience in mechanical/plumbing design within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Strong experience with residential projects (low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise, mixed-use).
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD.
  • Good understanding of Ontario Building Code / National Plumbing Code and relevant standards.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to HVAC coordination on residential buildings.
  • Experience with site servicing coordination and municipal submissions.
  • BIM coordination experience.
