Job description

Are you a certified Journeyperson Welder with a passion for heavy equipment? Join SMS Equipment in Williams Lake, BC, and play a key role in repairing, fabricating, and assembling Komatsu and other industrial equipment. If you take pride in delivering high-quality work in a safe, fast-paced environment, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Location: Williams Lake, BC
Schedule: 7x7 rotation
Base Wage: $52.31 per hour. Additional premiums apply

What You’ll Do

  • Repair, fabricate, and assemble Komatsu and other heavy-duty industrial equipment
  • Follow layouts, blueprints, and work orders accurately
  • Customize mobile equipment or parts per customer specifications
  • Conduct failure analysis and develop welding repair processes with Service Manager
  • Provide welding support primarily in the field, occasionally in the shop
  • Work safely in a challenging environment with minimal supervision

What You Bring

  • Journeyperson Welder certification
  • Strong blueprint interpretation and technical skills
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Acute safety awareness and ability to work independently
  • Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).

Pre-Employment Requirements

Ability to meet customer site access requirements, including:

  • Pre-employment medical examination
  • Drug & alcohol check
  • 5 year commercial drivers abstract
  • Ticket Verification
  • Successful completion of Weld Test
