Position Purpose Summary :
The position is to provide case management and group facilitation to the residents / neighbours of the Sarah’s Place Women’s Transitional Housing & Healing program.
Drawing on both personal lived experience and professional training is key for the position.
This is a permanent part-time position at 30 hours per week. There will be 4 day shifts a week, with 1 shift preferably a weekend day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Plan, manage and facilitate 1-2 groups per week on such topics as Life-Skills; Indigenous Teaching and Culture. Oversees the development of the Life Skills & Events calendar.
- Case-manage up to 12 residents / neighbours.
- Receives, tracks and processes files and prospective applications.
- Meets with residents, provides emotional support and advocacy as required;
- Guides residents in setting and updating goals
- Preparing safety plans;
- Supports residents in the community when necessary.
- Liaise with police, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members.
- Assist with room inspections & general processes of community living.
- Submit receipts and keeping track of those expenses and submitting receipts as required.
- Positively represent The Salvation Army Correctional and Justice Services
- Bring any concerns directly to Sarah’s Place Supervisor, Executive Director or designate and CJS Team.
- Demonstrate mutual dignity and respect to all.
- Work with and contribute to a positive and professional team environment.
- Read, know, understand and execute the standards, policies, procedures and responsibilities of the programs as outlined in the programs policies and procedures.
- Comply with all Salvation Army operating guidelines, minutes and directives.
- Participate in ongoing program development, evaluation and updating, based on participant needs, research, funding opportunities and community feedback.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, staff development / training programs and related conferences, seminars and / or courses upon the approval / consent of the Supervisor and Executive Director.
- Maintain confidentiality in regards to all clients, program files / materials, staff and departmental records / business.
