About The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and a national and international leader in mental health research. Fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, CAMH is also a Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.
With more than 5,000 staff, physicians, clinicians, researchers, educators, and volunteers, CAMH provides expert clinical care, conducts groundbreaking research, and trains the mental health professionals of today and tomorrow. In 2024, CAMH launched Connected CAMH, a bold strategic plan aimed at redefining health. This plan challenges existing paradigms by getting upstream to prevent and alter the course of mental illness.
As CAMH nears the completion of its decades long transformational redevelopment, it is entering a new era with the construction of the Temerty Discovery Centre—a beacon of hope for the future of mental health care. Committed to driving change through partnerships and advocacy, CAMH, alongside its leading Foundation, is working to make better mental health care for all a reality – building a future where no one is left behind.

Commitment to Diversity and Equity
CAMH has been working to eliminate disparities in health to enable each and every individual to lead a healthy life. Health equity means that we all have equal access to opportunities to attain a higher level of health through timely, appropriate and high-quality care independent of social, economic and demographic status.
CAMH makes a continuous effort to reduce disparities in mental illness and treatment through advocacy, data collection, policy, research and training programs. These initiatives consider the causes of health inequities and disparities, and specifically, the social determinants of health.
The CAMH Board of Trustees actively seeks candidates who can help advance our commitment to equity and inclusion and can help us better represent historically underrepresented and marginalized communities including First Nations, Métis and Inuit, racialized and LGBTQ2S+ communities, women, and people with disabilities (including people who have the lived experience of mental illness and addictions).
