Current license to independently practice medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Strong understanding of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, OPHS, and OPHOS. Associate Medical Officer of Health – Niagara Region
Niagara Region is a regional municipality serving more than 480,000 people. It provides essential services such as clean water, roads, waste collection, public safety, housing, and more, and believes in social, environmental, and economic choices that support its diverse community.
Reporting and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, strategic direction, and medical consultation for health promotion and disease prevention programs.
- Manage multiple health portfolios and stay informed on international and provincial public health developments to advise on local responses.
- Deliver intensive medical advice on managing public health issues specific to assigned portfolios.
- Conduct research on community health problems and prepare written papers for publication and presentation at public health or specialty conferences.
- Participate in a 24‑hour on‑call system with the Medical Officer of Health for the Public Health Department.
- Manage people resource planning for the operating unit.
