Senior Accountant (14 Month Contract)

Our client is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for performing duties related to the preparation and interpretation of financial and accounting reports for the company in accordance with the polices and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles for a not-for-profit organization. The successful candidate will be in direct contact with external auditors, internal auditors and numerous stakeholders throughout the organization.

Your success will be defined by your ability to :

• Coordinate and lead month-end activities including review of year-end working papers for use by external auditors
• Prepare and review monthly accruals, internal financial reports or reconciliations for reporting to management
• Plan workflow for themselves as well as assist Clerks in related workflow management to ensure adherence to all internal and external reporting deadlines
• Review, approve and post the import and reconciliation of various sub-systems into the general ledger
• Investigation and facilitation of effective resolution of concerns regarding financial information and provide variance explanations
• Quality assurance in balancing and ensuring reasonability of data being posted to general ledger
• Communicating with various internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance or expense related matters
• Analysis, recommendation and implementation of process improvements related to finance tasks and responsibilities
• Assist Managers with other projects such as, but not limited to financial policy and procedure updates, Audit and Finance Committee reporting and other special requests
