Job descriptionNon-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent; five-year driver abstract current within six months with no more than six demerits prior to starting. Proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via Lifemark certificate if not currently in an AHS EMS clinical position; test completed within six months prior to application. Lifemark : www.lifemark.ca / alberta-health-services. Qualified to perform full operational duties as of start date. As required. Preference given to those with EMS experience in metro, suburban, rural, or interfacility settings and in other Health Care and Public Safety areas. Completion of additional post-secondary programs is an asset and will be considered in the selection process. Applicants must provide proof of post-secondary credentials to be considered. Where you will be stationed : Peace River station is a brand-new facility located beside the Peace River Community Health Centre. Peace River is located on the banks of the mighty Peace River; 2 hours Northeast of Grande Prairie, under 3 hours to Slave Lake and 5 hours North of Edmonton. Casual Staff at the Peace River hub are eligible to pick up shifts in 6 local communities : Peace River, Red Earth, Fairview, McLennan, Manning and Worsley.
Casual / Relief position; Remote Retention Allowance available up to $3,000 annually (non-pensionable, paid hourly at basic rate). Posting End Date : 31-DEC-2025. Date Available : 10-JAN-2026.
Responsibilities
- Assess emergency scenes and patients; transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities.
- Operate ambulances or other EMS vehicles (including non-emergent transport) and ensure proper stocking and equipment of EMS vehicles.
- Provide simple treatments and complete required documentation, including patient care reports.
- Travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations; exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and bodily fluids.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent lifting and carrying up to 105 lbs, sustained kneeling and trunk flexion, standing / sitting for long periods, and handling boxes or equipment up to 20 lbs per hand.
