Job description

Bureau Veritas is a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) services, operating across various industries to help clients manage risk, enhance performance, and ensure compliance with quality, health and safety, environmental, and social responsibility standards. As an accredited certification body, Bureau Veritas attests that management systems, services, and personnel comply with specific standards, facilitating market access and enhancing brand reputation.

We offer tailored services across multiple sectors, including Buildings and Infrastructure, Agri-Food, Automotive and Transport, Marine and Offshore, and Power and Utilities.

Our services include laboratory and on-site analyses to verify that products and commodities meet required properties, standards, and regulations and on-site evaluations to ensure that products, services, assets, and installations are manufactured or operating as intended, thereby controlling quality and verifying compliance with regulatory requirements. Bureau Veritas is a “Business to Business to Society” company aiming to foster trust among businesses, public authorities, and consumers.

We integrate sustainability into our core strategy, offering services that help clients navigate challenges related to safety, environmental protection, social responsibility, and product or service quality throughout the supply chain.

Who we need We are hiring a Laboratory Technician – VOC Canister Room (Media Packager) to join our Environmental Services team in Mississauga.

This is a hands-on operational role supporting the preparation, maintenance, assembly, packaging, and shipment of specialized air-sampling equipment used by clients across Canada.

Unlike traditional laboratory positions focused on analytical testing, this role combines equipment preparation, assembly work, troubleshooting, shipping support, and production activities within a highly specialized and collaborative team environment.

This role offers extensive training and the opportunity to develop valuable laboratory, mechanical, and operational skills.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Mississauga laboratory and is expected to work on-site five days per week during standard business hours.

What's in it for you Start your career in a structured, high-volume operational environment.

This is an excellent entry point into Bureau Veritas, with full training provided and no prior laboratory experience required.

Develop transferable technical and operational skills.

You will gain experience working with laboratory information systems, order processing workflows, equipment handling, and quality-controlled documentation processes.

Be part of a collaborative support team.

You will work closely with laboratory operations, logistics, and customer service teams in a fast-paced but supportive environment.

Opportunities for internal exposure and growth.

This role provides visibility across multiple departments, creating pathways for future opportunities within laboratory operations and broader Bureau Veritas teams.

How you will make an impact Package and prepare client orders accurately.

You will ensure environmental sampling canisters and equipment are correctly labelled, organized, packaged, and prepared for shipment, including all required documentation.

Manage order tracking and system updates.

You will enter tracking information, update the LIMS Cylinder Inventory system, and ensure all orders are completed and closed in accordance with daily timelines.

Coordinate timely order flow and shipment readiness.

You will ensure all prepared orders are delivered to designated warehouse or dispatch areas on schedule to meet client and operational deadlines.

Maintain quality, safety, and operational standards.

You will follow established SOPs, QA/QC requirements, and health and safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent errors and accidents.

Support cross-functional laboratory operations.

You will collaborate with media entry staff, analysts, supervisors, and logistics teams to ensure smooth workflow and provide backup support when required.

Ensure stock and supply readiness.

You will monitor and maintain inventory of packaging materials and supplies, escalating requirements to supervisors as needed.

What you bring Education and transferable experience.

You have a college diploma, university degree, or equivalent experience.

A background in science, environmental studies, manufacturing, assembly, shipping, warehouse operations, or other hands-on environments is considered an asset.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

You take pride in ensuring orders are correctly prepared, documented, and processed without error. Strong work ethic and accountability.

You are dependable, take ownership of your responsibilities, and consistently follow through on commitments.

Hands-on and physically capable.

You enjoy active work, are comfortable standing for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Independence and initiative.

You can work with minimal supervision, identify what needs to be done, and proactively contribute to team success.

Communication and teamwork skills.

You communicate clearly and work effectively with colleagues across laboratory, logistics, and customer service functions.

Basic computer proficiency.

You are comfortable using email, Microsoft Office applications, and simple computer systems to manage information and complete daily tasks.

Problem-solving and initiative.

You are proactive in identifying issues, escalating concerns when needed, and contributing to efficient workflow management.

Compensation This posting is for an existing vacancy.

The salary for this role is $18.00 per hour.

Our salary ranges reflect the range of skills and experience required for the posted position.

The final offer amount for this role will depend on geographical region, applicable experience, internal equity, and the skillset of the candidate.

Our mission goes beyond compliance—protecting lives, preserving the planet, and driving positive change. As a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, we embrace innovation and strive for excellence.

You will work alongside passionate experts shaping the future of environmental testing.
