Learn about us:

The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Mechanical Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment and enjoys taking designs from concept through production.

You'll play a key role in developing and improving our product lines-ensuring designs are efficient, cost-effective, and built to perform in real-world conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Norstar product lines using 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor)
  • Translate concepts into detailed production-ready designs, including: drafting and dimensioning and performing basic analysis (e.g., FEA/stress considerations)
  • Create accurate production drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and sales teams
  • Provide design support to production, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Partner with the Design Team to support shared goals and project timelines
  • Adhere to company safety standards, policies, and procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor required not AutoCAD)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical design software
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Professional, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset

Nice to Have:

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in grain handling equipment or agricultural manufacturing
  • Background in both design and manufacturing environments

Why Join Norstar Industries?

  • Competitive Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 CAD, based on experience and technical proficiency (particularly with Autodesk Inventor and manufacturing design)
  • Stable, full-time opportunity with consistent weekday schedule
  • Work on tangible, real-world products used across the agricultural industry
  • Collaborative team environment with strong operational support
  • Opportunity to contribute to product innovation and continuous improvement
