The Role

We are looking for a Technical Officer, Ceramic Materials to support our Aerospace Research Centre. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, and Creativity.

Additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the manufacturing world through its rapid and geometrically intricate capabilities as well as economic benefits. 3D printers now have the capability to create intricate ceramic parts with performance improvements targeting various industrial applications. Despite major improvements in performance and early efforts at multi-material structures, many of the complex, multi-material structures have certain manufacturing issues, in particular combining dissimilar materials. Advancements still need to be made before multi-material AM fully integrates into reproducible and reliable modern manufacturing.

In this position, you will be involved in polymer-derived ceramic processing, an emerging ceramic AM method (3D printing) to fabricate ceramic specimens. The candidate, with experience in materials science and processing, will join the team with strong expertise in AM of ceramics and polymers to produce hybrid structures.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates :

Education

College or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, materials science, mechanics / mechanical engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.

An equivalent combination of work-related experience, training, and education would be considered.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria :

Salary : From $49,298 to $69,364 per annum. In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
