Role Description

Genie Aerospace is seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive the technological strategy and innovation agenda in alignment with our mission to build advanced aerospace superconducting engines and air frames through cutting-edge research and development. The CTO will lead R&D initiatives, spearhead technology advancements, and cultivate a culture of innovation to maintain Genie Aerospace’s position as a leader in sustainable and advanced aerospace technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership :
Develop and execute a forward-looking R&D strategy that aligns with Genie Aerospace’s vision.
Identify emerging aerospace technologies and trends to shape strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align technology investments with company goals.
Innovation and Research :
Oversee the development of innovative technologies in propulsion, materials, avionics, and sustainability.
Foster partnerships with universities, research institutions, and industry leaders.
Guide the development of prototype designs and experimental technologies.
Lead cross-functional teams in implementing R&D projects from concept to testing.
Drive advancements in hybrid-electric propulsion, AI integration, and autonomous systems.
Ensure compliance with aerospace regulations and standards in all R&D efforts.
Build, mentor, and retain a world-class technology team, emphasizing collaboration and creativity.
Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and technical excellence.

Qualifications :

Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Ph.D. preferred.

15+ years of leadership experience in aerospace technology development, with a focus on R&D.

Proven track record in managing large-scale R&D projects in aerospace or adjacent industries.

Deep understanding of aerospace innovation trends, including sustainability and digital transformation.

Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Attributes :

Experience with emerging electrification systems (e.g., electric / hybrid).

Familiarity with AI / ML applications in aerospace.

Strong industry network within academia, government agencies, and aerospace partners.
