The Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position in Implementation Science at the Assistant Professor level. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2026. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in a health-related field or discipline.

We seek a scholar whose research advances the systematic uptake of evidence-informed practices, programs, and policies across diverse real-world health and community contexts. The successful candidate will lead a research program focused on understanding and addressing the factors influencing the adoption, integration, scale-up, and sustainability of effective interventions to equitably improve population and community health. Their program of research will apply implementation science to substantive health-related challenges and / or contribute to the development, refinement, and evaluation of implementation science theories, tools, methods, and measures. Candidates will demonstrate expertise in implementation science, evidenced by the use of established implementation frameworks, theories, or methodologies, and integrate interdisciplinary approaches with a strong orientation toward policy, practice, and real-world impact.

The preferred candidate will have the capacity to teach in one or more of the following areas : knowledge translation, implementation science, epidemiology, statistics, qualitative research methods, public health, health policy, or other courses that align with their area(s) of expertise. Ontario Tech University is a teaching-intensive institution, and the successful candidate is expected to contribute meaningfully to undergraduate and graduate teaching and curriculum.

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers several undergraduate honours and graduate degrees in the broad domain of health sciences, including specialized programs in kinesiology, medical laboratory sciences and nursing. In addition to a wide array of research expertise for collaboration, the Faculty also hosts the Institute for Disability, Research and Rehabilitation, the Interdisciplinary Centre for Preventative Nutrition & Technology, and the Sienna Senior Living Research Centre for Healthy Aging and Happiness. A review of applications will begin March 30, 2026 and continue until a suitable candidate is found. Applicants should submit in electronic format (as a single PDF file) : 1) a covering letter that includes a brief description of how the applicant’s research program aligns with implementation science, such as use or building of implementation frameworks, training, methodologies, or real-world uptake; 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) a teaching dossier that includes a teaching philosophy and a statement of teaching interests / experiences; 4) a research dossier (no more than 5 pages) that provides an overview of the candidate’s most significant research contributions, highlighting knowledge translation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and where applicable, equity and Indigenization, as well as the impact or potential impact of the candidate’s work on policy, practice, or the field of implementation science. The research dossier must also include a 5-year research plan including potential partnerships, collaborations, and funding sources.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in a health-related field or discipline; a strong academic background; and an established record of excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative / collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the  UOIT Faculty Association  and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the  UOIT Faculty Association  collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
