Job description

Overview

At Colliers Project Leaders, we deliver capital project solutions to fulfill our clients’ needs across the built environment. The work we do makes a difference in communities and for the people who live there. We have a passion for it.

Our commitment to realizing our clients' vision inspires us to look beyond the immediate – to the possibilities of what we can achieve together. We are 18,000 projects and counting – improving lives and helping shape the growth of sustainable, progressive and inclusive communities.

Your role

Join our Northern Canada Team as a Team Lead.

This is a leadership opportunity that will enable the right candidate to grow a service business that aligns with their own personal and cultural values and reflects the needs of the communities that we serve. We are seeking an aspiring, self-motivated, and collaborative Team Lead to join our team of experts committed to leading projects and building relationships across Interior BC. This position will empower and support a team of senior project managers, project managers and assistant project managers.

In this role, you’ll work closely with clients to provide strategic advice and have the rewarding opportunity to contribute to meaningful change through projects that enhance access to housing, clean drinking water, education, and community infrastructure. Our team is committed to improving outcomes where people live, while fostering opportunities for reconciliation, economic participation, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship. Join us in making a tangible difference and shaping a better future for communities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the annual Business Unit business plan and budget. Manage human resources and motivate, coach, and inspire the team to develop and achieve targets and goals.
  • Deploy internal resources and track team utilization. Ensure team members can manage workloads, and project demands while balancing professional development activities.
  • Be accountable for client satisfaction and embrace a client-centric attitude.
  • Maintain contact with existing and prospective clients and respond to business development and sales opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President.
  • Work with and advise a variety of client groups in both the public and private sectors, including Indigenous governing bodies, Indigenous community groups and organizations, local authorities (regional districts and municipalities), provincial government and federal government.
  • Establish a presence in the Colliers community (local and online).
  • Build and implement a culture of account management and quality.
  • Manage the financial performance of your team. Partner with the business development (BD) team to generate growth in the local market. Implement current year business plan (profit and loss targets). Grow the Sales and Fee Income of your team by 15% annually. Build and train your team to generate crossline selling opportunities.
  • Implement corporate initiatives related to engagement, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Be accountable for client satisfaction and embrace a client-centric attitude.
  • Maintain contact with existing and prospective clients and respond to business development and sales opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal or Regional Vice President.
  • With support from the Principal and/or Regional Vice President, participate in performance management and recruitment activities to ensure the team is performing optimally and accomplishing its goals.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of six years of experience leading teams of project managers (or other practitioners) in the delivery of professional services.
  • Previous experience and aptitude in a leadership or people management role, providing oversight to a small, local, or virtual team.
  • A university degree or diploma in business administration, commerce, finance, engineering, architecture, construction management, or comparable degree (or an equivalent combination of academic and practical experience).
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills with the ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues.
  • Strong knowledge of various types of construction methodologies, project management models, financial management, building codes, contract law, and relevant legislation.
  • A strong desire to grow the business presence in the local market and expand the team to meet company growth targets.
  • Clear understanding of a professional services business model, including workforce composition strategies.
  • Professional industry credentials such as PMP, ., CET, RA, or similar industry-recognized designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Preference for candidates with demonstrated experience working respectfully in cross-cultural settings, including building, and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience building and nurturing long-term client relationships and working collaboratively with Indigenous governing bodies and local authorities is considered a strong asset.

Approximate Base Salary Range for Role: $115,000 CAD to $145,000 CAD.

Base Salary pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Annual bonus opportunities are in addition to base salary.
