ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to Dr. Alana Abramson in the department of Criminology.

SUMMARY

The Student Research Assistant will be involved in many aspects of the community-based action research project called the Community Helpline for Incarcerated People (CHIP). This service began in December 2024 and is a trauma informed, crisis line for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people to call. This is a part-time position of 60 hours over the course of four months. The Student Research Assistant will assist the Principal Investigator in preparing a comprehensive report to inform future research, funder and community partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend Research Team Meetings : Attend regular research team meetings, including meetings with Community Advisory Committee meetings comprised of community partners and people with lived experience of incarceration.
• Coordination of Project Tasks : Assist in the organization research and administrative tasks with Principal Investigator.
• Data Collection and Analysis : Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of research data using appropriate methodologies and software tools.
• Data Entry and Management : Accurately enter and manage research data in databases or spreadsheets, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Draft Research Reports : Help in preparing research reports, summaries, and presentations.
• Support Project Documentation : Keep detailed and accurate records of research procedures, findings, and results.
