Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the incumbent plans, organizes and supervises the work of the employees under his / her responsibility, ensures compliance with health and safety standards, quality control and productivity, and oversees the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment, all in order to achieve the plant's objectives.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSABILITIES

  • Inform and mobilize employees on occupational health and safety issues, inspect workplaces and ensure compliance with OHS work methods;
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality control and productivity standards;
  • Plan and supervise the work of employees and assist them as required;
  • Write production reports;
  • Apply the collective agreement, directives and internal procedures;
  • Follow up the files of the employees under his / her responsibility and evaluate them;
  • Training and integrating new employees;
  • Follow up procedures and work methods with employees;
  • Participate in various committees and meetings.

EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT

  • Supervise a team of 12 to 15 employees.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment and team spirit.
  • Coordinate job-related training and safety activities for employees.
  • Apply disciplinary measures to achieve expected levels of performance and behavior.
  • Resolve employee issues in a fair and consistent manner.

    • Requirements

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • At least three years' experience supervising a group of 15 to 20 plant employees.
  • Good coaching and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational, multi-tasking and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all parties.
  • Proven experience in training, guiding, motivating and developing staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Acceptable computer skills, particularly in Word, Excel and ERP.
  • Bilingualism (French and English). (an asset).
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment (an asset).

    • EDUCATION

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • A post-secondary diploma would be desirable.
