About the Opportunity
The IM / IT Systems Analyst (SA) / Business Analyst (BA), reports to an IM / IT Manager and will take direction from either the IM / IT Lead or Sr. Analyst. This position is responsible for the requirement gathering, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support for primarily clinical information management and technology solutions and functions across NSH, IWK and its many external clients. The IM / IT SA / BA works with their team to collaborate with key clinical and business stakeholders throughout the province as the organization, in partnership with the province’s Internal Services Department and the Department of Health and Wellness, moves towards the rationalization of disparate systems and the OPOR strategy.
The IM / IT SA / BA will be committed to a high standard of performance and will provide support across the organization to leverage IT applications aligned with NSH’s and its client’s strategic mission, vision and goals. The IM / IT SA / BA performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to : evaluation of requests for change, data retrieval; troubleshooting and assisting with the resolution of application errors and other system issues; development of materials and the communication of system changes to end users; and, building and maintaining all system configuration items in line with best practice and appropriate stakeholder approvals.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following :
- Degree or diploma in an Information Technology, Business Analysis or Health Related discipline. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and relevant experience.
- 1-3 years’ experience in application programming, systems analysis, business analysis or systems support an asset.
- Experience and / or training with healthcare information systems and terminology an asset.
- Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting an asset.
- Foundation level experience planning and performing software testing : functional, unit, integration, system, user acceptance, load and stress testing an asset
- Experience with SQL queries and relational database structures tables’ rows columns etc. an asset
- Experience with programming concepts and the demonstrated ability to program in at least one scripting language would be considered an asset.
- Conceptual knowledge of HL7 and FHIR preferred
- Experience in at least one interface engine would be an asset
- Knowledge of modern Networking principles an asset
- Knowledge of network hardware configuration an asset

Compensation and Benefits
33.14 - $41.42 Hourly
