Job description

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the CNC Machinist is responsible for operating Weiler CNC machines safely and efficiently, finishing products accurately, and working effectively with team members to complete and ship orders on time.

Accountabilities:

Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines in a responsible, diligent, and efficient manner. Fix programs during production runs as required. Use measuring tools, gauges, and controls as required.
  • Carry out work order instructions to program CNC machines to customer specifications. Manufacture routine, complex, and non-routine parts from raw materials.
  • Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents and drawings.
  • Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant.
  • Plans and prioritizes workload to complete work orders within deadlines, utilizing appropriate resources for each job.
  • Complete product documentation for work carried out. Routes the product and related documentation to the appropriate location once completed.

Position Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience running a conversational Weiler lathe.
  • Premium threading experience preferred.
  • Milling experience considered an asset.
  • Journeyman Machinist ticket (equivalent experience considered).
  • General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
  • General understanding of safe work practices, quality assurance requirements, and continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.
