Position Overview :
We are seeking a dedicated Travel Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Digby, Nova Scotia for a temporary assignment on the Medical / ALC unit . This role offers an exciting opportunity to make an impact in a dynamic healthcare environment while experiencing life in Nova Scotia. As an LPN, you will provide high-quality care to patients in an acute and alternate level of care setting, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide direct, hands-on nursing care to patients in the Medical and ALC units, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses (RNs), physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure effective, patient-centered care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities, including vital signs, medication administration, changes in condition, and other significant observations.
Support patients in the ALC unit, helping to ensure they are comfortable while awaiting placement or discharge to a more appropriate care setting.
Adhere to all hospital infection control practices to prevent the spread of infections, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitation protocols.
Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and any necessary follow-up care after discharge.
Provide assistance in emergency situations as needed, following hospital protocols for critical care management.
Help with various medical procedures such as catheterization, wound dressing changes, injections, and other routine nursing tasks as directed by the healthcare team.
Qualifications :Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Experience in a hospital setting, particularly in Medical or Acute Care environments, is preferred.
Strong clinical nursing skills with a focus on patient care in both acute and ALC settings.
