  • Provide coaching and feedback to help journalists and freelancers develop their skills.

  • Assist in communicating digital news best practices.

  • Mentor young journalists in story structure and headline writing.

  • Consume and monitor news from across the province.

Your profile

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, daily multi-platform news environment.

  • Strong journalistic and critical thinking skills, including knowledge of and familiarity with CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices as well as the legal and ethical issues related to journalism.

  • Ability to manage and organize large volumes of fast-moving information

  • Substantial experience in copy editing content for digital and social platforms, including fact-checking, legal vetting and packaging.

  • Advanced knowledge of web, mobile and social media tools and industry and audience trends.

  • Deep knowledge of Canadian Press style. Knowledge of CBCNews.ca style is an asset.

  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • A high-energy leader with a positive, team-first attitude and the demonstrated ability to motivate and coach teams, and encourage creativity.

  • A general understanding of the province and CBC’s connection to the communities we serve throughout Ontario.

  • A keen desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.

  • Ability and willingness to work a schedule that includes Saturday and Sunday.

  • Possession of a full valid driver’s licence as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
