Role Responsibilities
Are you interested in sharing your knowledge and practical expertise with the intent of leading the next generation of wildfire and forestry professionals by designing advanced, field-ready training that strengthens safety, competence, resilience, and operational excellence? If so, we want you to join our team as a Senior Training Specialist.
Reporting to the Director of the HTC, you will provide leadership and subject matter expertise in adult education, administering training programs that directly influence staff knowledge, skills, safety, and operational effectiveness. You will have the autonomy to design, develop, and deliver training programs, evaluate their effectiveness, and mentor staff across multiple positions.
Shared Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver high-quality training programs to meet operational and succession planning needs.
- Ensure continual improvement of training programs and delivery methods, aligning with legislation, policies, technologies, and best practices in Adult Education.
- Administer contracts and legal agreements to secure external training services.
- Address conflict and provide guidance to students and staff.
- Support external clients, stakeholders, and national partners.
- Mentor, coach, and advise staff to build workforce competency.
Position-Specific Responsibilities
Forestry-Focused Senior Training Specialist:
- Lead design, development, and delivery of Forestry and Wildfire Training programs to meet operational and succession planning needs of the Forestry Division.
- Provide leadership in Forestry-related training programs, ensuring staff are prepared for operational and field requirements.
- Advise on development of Forestry Standard Operating Procedures, policies and Operational Ground Rules.
- Support provincial and local Forestry projects, field operations, and participate in wildfire response activities.
- Evaluate Forestry and Wildfire training curriculums and delivery mechanisms to ensure ongoing improvement.
Wildfire-Focused Senior Training Specialist:
- Lead design, development, and delivery of Wildfire Training programs to meet operational and succession planning needs of the Forestry Division.
- Support provincial and local Wildfire projects, field operations and participate in wildfire response activities.
- Advise on development of Wildfire Standard Operating Procedures and Business Rules.
- Evaluate Wildfire training curriculum and delivery mechanisms to ensure ongoing improvement.
