We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in North York, Ontario. As an integral part of our team, the Accounting Clerk will play a crucial role in managing both accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Responsibilities :
- Accurately process invoices and issue credit memos
- Handle Accounts Payable, including managing vendor issues and statements
- Ensure accurate record-keeping by posting bills and invoices, matching packing slips with purchase orders
- Regularly reconcile reports from the Merchant Payment System with the bank
- Manage Accounts Receivable, including collections and the preparation of aging reports
- Occasionally make collection calls as required
- Handle government filings, such as HST, WSIB, and Payroll taxes
- Collaborate with the bookkeeper for year-end report preparation and other tasks
- Convert currency (US & CAN) as required within the scope of responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders as needed.
- Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) is mandatory.
- Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and databases is required.
- Must demonstrate excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Should have the ability to handle confidential information.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
- Applicants should be proficient in data entry and management.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines is essential.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong decision-making skills, is required.
- Must be able to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
- Applicants should have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in preparing financial reports and statements is a plus.
- Knowledge in tax preparation and filing is also beneficial.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required.
