Personal Injury Lawyer
Position Overview :
Our client, a well-established mid-sized law firm in Toronto, is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer to join their growing litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience handling personal injury claims, including motor vehicle accidents, occupiers’ liability, and other insurance-related disputes. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex cases, advocate for clients at all stages of litigation, and collaborate with a dynamic legal team.
Key Responsibilities :
- Case Management : Handle personal injury files from intake to resolution, including conducting client meetings, assessing claims, and developing case strategies.
- Legal Research & Drafting : Prepare pleadings, motions, mediation briefs, settlement proposals, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research on liability, damages, and procedural issues.
- Advocacy & Litigation : Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, discoveries, pre-trial conferences, and court hearings. Appear before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and tribunals as needed.
- Client Relations : Maintain strong communication with clients, keeping them informed throughout the litigation process and providing strategic legal advice.
- Negotiation & Settlement : Engage in settlement discussions with insurance companies and opposing counsel to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Trial Preparation & Advocacy : Prepare cases for trial, including working with experts, drafting trial materials, and representing clients in court when necessary.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with senior lawyers, clerks, and support staff to efficiently manage files and meet deadlines. Provide mentorship to junior associates and articling students as needed.
