Summer Student - Seasonal Landscaper
BGIS at Parc Downsview Park is hiring Seasonal Parks Workers in Horticulture for Summer 2026. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who have a passion for working outdoors, an ability to work in a team environment, and a strong interest in the development and maintenance of green spaces.
Contract dates: May-August 2026
Work arrangement: in-person, at Parc Downsview Park in downtown Toronto
Hours: full-time, Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and install ornamental gardens and seasonal planters, which includes watering, weeding, deadheading, and pruning
- Assist in the restoration of a 2-acre perennial garden bed
- Park sanitation
- Provide staff support for outdoor events and stewardship activities
- Additional tasks in other areas of park operations arise occasionally (ie. turf care, urban orchard, urban arboriculture & forestry, park infrastructure)
Qualifications
- Post-secondary full-time student/graduate in programs or accreditations related to horticulture, landscaping, or permaculture
- Must have a current knowledge of the Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Must possess and maintain a valid G license
- Ability to work daily from 7:00AM to 3:30PM, including evening and weekend shifts as required
- Previous park labour or related experiences would be considered an asset

This is a full-time, contract position with a salary range of $19 - $20 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
