SSAS 5P13 - Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Management

The drivers and consequences of global changes on the ecology of species at a range of spatial scales using geospatial technologies (, GIS and RS) and spatial data analyses. Topics include spatial ecology, disturbance ecology, conservation, restoration, management principles, public policy and health.

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2026 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2026 - $15, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications

1. PhD in Environmental Sustainability or a related discipline with transdisciplinary Demonstrated expertise in landscape ecology, ecosystem management, and the impacts of global environmental change across spatial scales. 3. Strong proficiency in geospatial technologies, including GIS, remote sensing, and spatial data analyses, and experience applying these technologies to study ecological patterns, disturbance processes, conservation, restoration, and management. 4. Ability to integrate ecological science with policy and human health Specialization or prior teaching experience in fields of study related to the Demonstrated success in university Demonstrated research in fields of study related to the course.
