Job description

As an industry leader for over 30 years, Horizon Contracting Group provides superior landscape construction, landscape maintenance and snow and ice removal services.

Your Future Team

Are you passionate about working outdoors, creating beautiful spaces, and being part of a hardworking, collaborative team? At Team Horizon, our Landscape Maintenance teams take pride in maintaining and enhancing the landscapes that our clients love. Together, we’re a group of skilled, supportive professionals who bring creativity, energy, and care to every property we touch.

As a Landscape Maintenance Labourer, you’ll work alongside a tight-knit team that values teamwork, learning, and a job well done. You will report to the Maintenance Field Manager and whether you’re mowing pristine lawns, tending to vibrant gardens, or ensuring every detail shines, you’ll be surrounded by teammates who share your dedication to excellence and love for the outdoors.

What will you do around here?

  • Learn and Grow: Complete all necessary training on equipment, policies, and procedures to build your skills and confidence.
  • Represent Our Team with Pride:
    • Wear the uniform with professionalism and a positive attitude.
    • Deliver outstanding customer service while being polite, courteous, and approachable.
    • Maintain a polished appearance in line with our Operations Manual standards.
    • Work Alongside Our Maintenance Foreman: Assist in completing tasks that make each job site shine, from start to finish.

  • Care for Our Tools and Equipment:
    • Conduct routine inspections of equipment before use.
    • Flag any issues to the Foreman to ensure everything stays in top condition.

  • Be a Safety Champion: Actively participate in safety meetings (toolbox talks) and always use the correct personal protective equipment to stay safe on the job.

We would love to chat with you if the following describes you:

  • Team Player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working alongside others to achieve shared goals.
  • Customer-Focused: You’re dedicated to delivering exceptional service, always leaving a positive impression.
  • Effective Communicator: Your strong oral and written communication skills help you connect with teammates and clients alike.
  • Hands-On Experience: You’re familiar with operating landscape machinery like mowers, line trimmers, and blowers.
  • Problem-Solver Extraordinaire: You have a knack for troubleshooting and tackling challenges head-on.
  • Mechanically Savvy: You can troubleshoot equipment issues with ease and keep things running smoothly.
  • Plant Knowledge Enthusiast: You know your way around local plant life and are ready to put that expertise to good use.
  • Optimistic and Motivated: You bring a positive attitude to work every day, inspiring those around you.

Physical Requirements of the Role:

This position is 100% labour and as such, individuals must be in good physical condition and be able to lift weights of more than 50 lbs, bending, crouching, twisting, and standing/walking for long periods of time.

Work Environment:

As a Landscape Maintenance Labourer, your “office” is under the open sky, and no two days are the same. You’ll experience all the elements, from sunny days to rainy ones, and even the occasional snowflake. Whether it’s extreme heat, chilly mornings, or a light drizzle, you’ll embrace the weather and make the most of every day. Additionally, shifts are scheduled as 4 x 10h days, giving you a 3-day weekend.

We’ve got your comfort in mind—dress in layers, or grab your sunscreen when the sun’s shining, and be ready to tackle whatever nature sends your way.

What's in it for you?

  • Starting base wage of $ 23 - $ 25 based on previous experience
  • Vacation pay paid out on each cheque
  • RRSP Enrollment at 1 year
  • Benefits for those who are returning after 1 previous season
  • Learn & grow from the best Landscapers around!
