Laboratory Analyst is a member of the Toronto Redpath Quality Team and reports directly to the Laboratory Supervisor. The role is primarily responsible for all aspects of daily testing protocols, various samples collection and shipping, maintaining various testing equipment, and maintaining overall proficient laboratory setting and quality systems.
This is hourly position and requires 12 hours shift work that follows continental shift pattern.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs wide array of testing including but not limited to raw sugar, molasses and molasses by-products, liquid sugars, various liquid blends, granulated sugars, icing sugars and soft sugars
Performs analysis & coordinates necessary communications related to CCPs and CQPs
Prepares & coordinates necessary communications related to COA data
Ability to analyze complex information and preform root cause analysis
Ability to recognize areas for continuous improvement (CI) strategies, recommend and implement CI strategies as assigned
Ability to utilize various sources of information and analyze results
Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary business information at all times
Ability to effectively manage time, including the ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while maintaining quality & accuracy standards

REQUIRED EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE
Degree or equivalent from accredited college or university, with major in food science or related field
At least 2 years working in a manufacturing laboratory environment
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Visio)
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English
