A leading company is seeking an Operational Accountant to join its dynamic and fast-paced finance team. The ideal candidate will oversee day-to-day accounting activities for the organization and its affiliated company, with a strong emphasis on operational accounting and inventory management.
Position : Junior Accountant
Location : Montréal (Ahuntsic)
Salary : 60k - 75k

Responsibilities
Accounts Payable : Prepare and review wire payments for import shipments, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Commission Management : Prepare monthly commission reports for review and payment.
Expense Analysis : Analyze office expenses, particularly for the QC office, to monitor cost efficiency.
Internal Controls : Assist in establishing, maintaining, and improving internal control processes.
Special Projects : Collaborate with other departments on reconciliations, reporting, and ad hoc projects as needed by management.
Month-End Processes : Prepare month-end files, including general ledger reviews, journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Inventory Accounting : Manage inventory accounting, including goods in transit, supplier advances for finished goods, and month-end inventory valuation. Identify and address discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
Audit Preparation : Support year-end and governmental audit processes by preparing required files and documentation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience : Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of experience in operational accounting or a similar role.
Detail-Oriented : Strong organizational and analytical skills with a focus on accuracy.
Time Management : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and work with a sense of urgency.
Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively within a team.
Technology Skills : Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with accounting systems such as Momentis or Great Plains is a strong asset.
Professionalism : Discreet, process-oriented, and reliable, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Team Player : Collaborative mindset with strong people skills.
Industry Experience : Experience in the apparel or import industry is an asset.
