Job Summary : The Junior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of commodities, supplies and services to be used by the organization. The Junior Buyer coordinates his / her efforts with appropriate Dept. Leader / Manager to maintain the appropriate level of inventory. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favourable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers. This individual will comply with provincial and federal legislation, employee handbook guidelines, health and safety policies and ISO quality program and procedures Job Details : Full-time, day shift, Monday-Friday (8 : 00 A.M.- 5 : 00P.M.) Total comprehensive benefit and pension package Employee Assistance Program Potential opportunity for a Signing Bonus Qualifications : Proficient in computers with the ability to use various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, ERP, etc. Good oral and written communication skills in order to identify problem areas and demonstrated ability to manage supplier relations and reconcile user department needs to corporate goals required Ability to supervise and accept responsibility for the work of others Capable of forecasting and solving problems Job Responsibilities : Solicits quotes and place purchase orders with suppliers Track deliveries of purchased goods and maintain efficient production scheduling Negotiates pricing and maintains of records within visual system Travel to suppliers is required, but is usually within normal office hours Other duties and projects as assigned. This includes providing backup for Logistics and other purchasing functions during vacation and sick day Working Conditions : Must be able to lift heavy material (ex. up to 20 lbs.)
