itec group is partnered with a manufacturer in the Heavy Equipment sector looking for an experienced Electrical Designer. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems and components used in heavy machinery, ensuring that designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background with AutoCAD / Solidworks, experience with industrial machinery, and a deep understanding of the electrical design process. Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to :
Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on automated production equipment
Design and develop electrical systems for mobile heavy equipment, including power distribution, motor controls, lighting, sensors, and safety systems.
Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical panel layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical).
Specify electrical components (e.g., switches, relays, fuses) and ensure compatibility with the overall equipment design.
Work closely with mechanical engineers, product designers, and manufacturing teams to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into mobile heavy equipment.
Participate in design reviews, providing electrical expertise and recommendations for improvements. Mandatory Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
3+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the heavy equipment or industrial machinery sectors.
Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar).
Familiarity with PLCs, HMI systems, and embedded control systems used in heavy machinery.
Strong knowledge of electrical principles, power distribution, control systems, and electrical safety standards.
Experience with CAD tools to create detailed electrical schematics and layouts.
Proficient in electrical calculations, such as load analysis, power requirements, and circuit design. Location : Sudbury, Ontario
Salary Range : $100k to 110k + paid OT, bonus, pension
