This position is for the 2025-26 school year. The PE aspect of the role is from September 1, 2025, to December 19, 2025, and the Internal TOC position will begin January 12, 2026, ending June 30, 2026. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : PE Teacher : Collaboratively plan active and engaging PE units for Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students that promote physical literacy and skill developmentAlign curriculum with the BC PHE curriculum and the IB PYP philosophy and frameworkImplement clear and consistent safety routines and the proper use of PE equipment Nurture and model a love of lifelong physical fitness and personal wellnessNurture relationships with students that enable them to feel safe, connected and cared forModel and encourage the development of sportsmanship through teaching and learning in PE classes and coaching Assess and report on students' physical literacy, skill development, and participation in the PE program Engage in homeroom partnership responsibilities with a Grade 5 PYP grade-level teaching teamMaintain consistent, open, and clear communication with parentsEngage in ongoing professional learningAdditional duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Southridge Employee Handbook Teacher on Call : Provide daily on-call and short-term coverage for teacher absences in K-7 classrooms across all subjectsProvide in-class support and support special projects when not scheduled for specific teacher coverage (e.g. provide additional classroom support, assist in the Learning Commons / Library)Guide and nurture student behaviour that aligns with Southridge's mission, vision, and valuesSupport student supervision in formally scheduled and informal waysParticipate in the House system and student life activities and initiativesActively contribute to the Junior School co-curricular programme (1 term)Attend and participate in core school functions and special eventsComplete required school-based training modulesAttend to additional duties and responsibilities outlined in the Southridge Faculty Handbook and the Junior School Guidebook QUALIFICATIONS : A Bachelor of Education, with a focus on Elementary (K-7) EducationHold a valid BC teaching certificateA demonstrated passion for and commitment to student-centred, inquiry-based, concept-driven teaching and learningA proven understanding of children's social and emotional needs at the elementary school (K-7) levelEffective communication and interpersonal skills with children and adults Proficiency with technology and Google ClassroomFirst Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain certification)Legally entitled to work in Canada Co-curricular coaching experience is valuedVALUES : The ideal candidate will be aligned with the values and mission of Southridge and will want to be an active member of a vibrant school community and will demonstrate a desire to make a difference in the world. The salary range for the PE Teacher position is from $71,213. to $116,179. Salary placement on the faculty grid is based on years of teaching experience and educational qualifications. The salary range for the Internal Teacher on Call position is from $56,970. to $75,870. Salary placement on the TOC Grid is based on years of teaching experience.
