Matchbox is working with a well-established residential design firm with a strong portfolio of custom homes across North America. With a collaborative, high-performing team and a commitment to thoughtful, elevated design, they’re looking to hire a Senior Interior Designer to lead their growing department. This is a key leadership role with a mix of hands-on design, team management, and strategic oversight.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and creative leadership to the interior design team, setting the tone for quality, collaboration, and innovation

Manage resourcing across projects and assign work to ensure the right team members are in the right seats

Take ownership of key client relationships, guiding project direction and ensuring high standards of delivery

Present proposals and design packages with confidence and clarity, both internally and to clients

Track team performance against financial and utilization goals, adjusting plans as needed

Collaborate with executive leadership to define department priorities and contribute to overall company strategy

Foster a culture of feedback, growth, and accountability through regular check-ins and performance reviews

Requirements

10+ years of progressive experience in interior design, with a strong foundation in residential or custom home environments

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field

A portfolio that demonstrates both creative vision and technical execution

Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing people and projects

Skilled in developing and reviewing full design packages including drawings, materials, and specifications

Strong communication skills and a thoughtful, proactive approach to problem-solving

A natural collaborator who brings professionalism, creativity, and a high standard of excellence to every project
