  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the Executive Director, leadership team, and Board of Directors.
  • Develop and monitor organizational budgets, identifying risks, opportunities, and recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and key performance indicators to senior leadership and Board committees.
Funding & Compliance Management:
  • Oversee financial reporting and compliance requirements associated with provincial, municipal, and other government funding agreements.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of funding reports, grant reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance with funder requirements, regulatory obligations, and organizational policies.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison with funding agencies, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Accounting & Financial Operations:

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Manage annual audit processes and coordinate external audit requirements.
  • Monitor organizational cash flow, reserves, and investment activities.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team across Finance and IT functions.
  • Establish priorities, allocate resources, and foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
  • Support employee development through coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Information Technology Oversight
  • Provide oversight of the organization’s IT operations, systems, vendors, and technology roadmap.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure reliable and secure technology infrastructure.
  • Support technology initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, cybersecurity, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee IT budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
Governance & Risk Management:
  • Support Board and Committee meetings through preparation of financial materials and presentations.
  • Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks are maintained.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and emerging risks affecting the organization.

About You

  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Previous experience within a non-profit, charitable, healthcare, social services, education, or broader public-sector environment.
  • Strong understanding of provincial and municipal funding models, grant reporting requirements, and contribution agreements.
  • Experience managing audits, financial statements, budgets, and compliance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Exposure to IT oversight, technology vendors, or operational systems management.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk management, and governance practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to Boards and senior leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
