Job descriptionDesign of mechanical parts and assemblies for custom furniture and shade structure products Preparation of mechanical drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD 3D Review product designs for manufacturability with Production team Coordinate design / structural integrity of shade structures with Professional Engineering firm Component research of parts and material selection Establish sizing / tolerance of mechanical parts and interfaces Preparation of parts drawings and Bills Of Material Liaison with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering and QA Product design liaison for Sales and Project Management team Responsible for successful hand-off of Assembly Drawings to manufacturing team Corrective and preventative action for existing mechanical products (ECR investigator) Design enhancements for continuous improvement and cost savings Preparation of documents to record and detail mechanical design changes (ECNs) Diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering / Technology or equivalent experience Minimum 4 years experience in mechanical / industrial design and / or manufacturing setting A designer with a flare for creativity and the ability to ‘think outside the box'. Mechanical design and detailing, specializing in product design. Expertise in using AutoCAD / Inventor for 3D part design, detailing, assembly, and manufacturing. Mechanical design analysis, including structural frame sizing, mechanical interface calculations and feasibility. Ideally, comes with experience working in a manufacturing environment Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes used in custom manufacturing.

Primary Objective : Provide mechanical engineering design expertise to ensure high quality designs are created for custom furniture / shade structure projects and delivered in a timely manner.
Reports To : Director of Sales
Responsibilities :
CREATIVE PRODUCT DESIGN
- Use your artistic talent to conceptualize and create new products and product collections
- Build 3D models and create renderings for new and existing products
- Review existing product designs for improved aesthetics, functionality and manufacturability
- Brainstorm ideas for planning and product selection on new projects
- Prepare detailed product drawings for custom components
- Create space plan layouts in AutoCAD for various indoor and outdoor seating environments
- Maintain library of standard components to facilitate efficient design of near-standard systems
