1.0 EFT Term Position (Year to Year Funding)
Position Title : Housing Mentor
Department : Community Development
Responsible to : Community Development Coordinator
Status : 1.0 EFT (full-time)
Union : CUPE
Salary : $27.339-$29.218 / hour
Position Summary :
The role of the Housing Mentor would be to work with the clients to find housing. To provide life skills training incorporate culture long-term safety planning and ensure that each woman we work with has the tools and resources to assist them with being successful in their new home.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Work directly with all the Clients from the two locations to assist them with securing permanent long- term housing.
- Research and connect with various property managers to build relationships that address the barriers that the Clients face.
- Research and maintain up to date private housing listings so that Clients have access to this information.
- Transport Clients to various housing related appointments and scheduled unit viewings.
- Liaise on the Clients behalf to MB Housing and to private property managers to ensure that they have all the documentation reference letters or identification they may need.
- Liaise with agencies on behalf of the Clients to ensure that their source of income is in place to secure housing.
- Provide life skills programming while the Clients are in shelter encompassing topics such as budgeting tenants rights safety planning for when they move back into the community and self-care.
- Create a manual to be used by the Housing Officer that outlines each module to be taught in the life skills programming.
- Create and implement an evaluation form to gauge the services we are offering by utilizing client feedback.
- Connecting Clients with long term cultural programming and making the appropriate referrals to other agencies within the community or elsewhere to meet these needs.
- Report statistical information as required by our funders.
- Connect Clients with urgent need services such as Winnipeg Harvest and other Community food banks.
- Additional duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
