Job description

Your Opportunity:

Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide care to emergency patients and acute care medical inpatients on a 30 bed unit. This combined unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the LPN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients, and families. The LPN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education in CTAS, Cardiac Arrest management (CAM) Basic and Advanced or ACLS, Trauma 101 or TNCC, Pediatric Building Blocks or PALS, and ENPEP. IV and CVAD competency. Other courses and training applicable to the rural acute care and emergency setting an asset.
