Job Description
JOHN ABBOTT COLLEGE
Anticipated vacancies for the Winter 2026 semester.
Discipline : Paramedic Care (181.AO)
Contract Type : Part‑time contract representing full and / or part‑time workload.
N.B. This vacancy is to replace an instructor away on an authorized leave and will terminate, without prior notice, upon the return of the instructor.
Qualifications
- Diploma (DEC), AEC, or equivalent degree or diploma in the Paramedic or Pre‑Hospital Emergency Care field.
- Active paramedic license.
- Minimum of five years full‑time equivalent providing patient care.
- Bilingual – English and French.
- Ability to collaborate within a departmental team to achieve common objectives.
- Teaching experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of Quebec protocols (preferred).
- Additional college or university diploma(s) or degree(s) (preferred).
- Advanced or critical care paramedic certification (preferred).
- Experience in providing patient care in the last ten years (preferred).
- Bilingualism (English / French) and ability to teach in French, as required by Bill 96 and the Charte de la langue française (preferred).
Additional Requirements for Lead Teacher of Emergency Vehicle Driving 181‑601‑AB or Emergency Vehicle Operation 181‑612‑AB
Note : The chosen candidate is expected to obtain a Basic Life Support Instructor certification through a recognized organization such as the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Red Cross, St‑John's Ambulance, or equivalent before the end of the semester hired. The department also recommends continuous improvement of Quebec paramedic protocols during the first semester and ongoing basis.
