Job description
Position Summary
Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking an Advisor, Quality & Patient Safety to join our Quality & Transformation department.

The Advisor, Quality & Patient Safety provides leadership and expertise in the application of quality improvement principles, practices and tools in support of regional and operational program priorities across Northern Health. The Advisor also provides education to Northern Health staff on quality improvement methodologies and principles, strategies, and tools used in the field of improvement science. The Advisor uses best-practice teaching strategies and proven adult learning principles to ensure the effective on-the-job application of established quality improvement strategies. The Advisor will support quality improvement initiatives by working with NH programs, operational leaders and staff to assess current work processes and practices, design and implement preferred practices, and evaluate outcomes.

The Advisor works with teams to enhance care delivery, increase patient safety, improve patient experience, and contribute to an efficient and sustainable health care system. The Advisor leads and facilitates quality reviews while promoting a just culture. The Advisor supports leaders in the response to adverse events, using evidence-informed practices to understand how adverse events occurred to inform disclosure, share learning, and support system improvement. The Advisor engages managers, leaders, and employees to promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety.

Starting salary will be approximately from $90,770 to $113,462 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
•Masters degree in a healthcare discipline or health-related field. Two to five years recent clinical experience in a health-related field.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years recent, related experience in quality improvement, quality assurance, patient safety, and education - preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of the concepts and underlying principles of cultural safety and cultural humility and how they apply to Indigenous peoples.
• Demonstrated ability to work with efficiency to control costs while enhancing the quality of care.
• Ability to guide, coach, teach, and promote a learning environment and continuous quality improvement.
• Knowledge of quality improvement principles, theory, and practice.
• Ability to foster innovation throughout complex organizations.
• Ability to see connections between issues, events and data points and to think clearly around complex systems, bridging community issues and regional and provincial activities.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to manage diverse groups and individuals through change initiatives and be able to resolve issues that arise throughout the process.
• Superior small and large group facilitation skills and individual coaching skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to foster collaborative partnerships using a team approach.
• High level of motivation with a positive attitude and high degree of flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
• Strong organizational skills and experience in project management; ability to organize and prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to develop presentation graphics and spreadsheets.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
