Ideal is an experienced finance leader with a mix of public practice and industry experience in IFRS. We are seeking an engaged leader that has managed teams of 10+, with strong communication skills, and great follow up that can contribute to the vision and strategy. This role is leading teams in reporting, budgeting and forecasting and process improvement and offers variety in a wide variety of areas of finance.

What- the Role :

The Finance Director position is a varied role managing a skilled team of Managers and their indirect reports.

People Management

  • Manage and lead Finance team of 10+.

Financial Reporting and accounting

  • Plan, direct and coordinate all financial reporting under IFRS. This includes consolidated financials, month end and various financial reporting packages.
  • Oversee monthly results against the budgets for all reporting entities.
  • Prepare and present monthly KPIs as required.
  • FP&A

  • Perform value added financial analysis for stakeholders.
  • Oversee and lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Be the liaison between Finance and other departments to assist with analysis, as needed.
  • Financial Statements Audit and Internal controls

  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems, address control deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Review, evaluate and implement internal controls and policies.
  • Oversee the annual audit process.
  • Corporate tax compliance

  • Oversee the preparation of the corporate tax returns for all entities, prepared by external tax professionals.
  • Be the liaison between the CRA and the external tax professionals for any CRA audits / reviews.
  • Change Management

  • Be a leader in process improvement and efficiency.
  • Champion the adaptation of new technology.
  • Other duties and projects as requested by senior leadership.
  • Who- the Candidate :

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) with relevant industry experience in a leadership role with proven supervisory experience as a highly motivated team leader.
  • Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with 8 years of relevant financial reporting experience, at least 3-5 of which include at a leadership level.
  • Basic knowledge of Canadian Corporate tax principles as well as strong experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Public practice experience is highly preferred.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and understand complex business operations.
  • Advanced computer skills (especially advanced EXCEL skills) and experience utilizing ERP systems and ideally budgeting systems.
  • Inquisitive with a lens for process improvement.
  • SOX experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Where :

    With Headquarters in Surrey. This position would be hybrid mix of virtual and in office, with 2 required in office days.

    How Much :

    Competitive base salary ranging from $160-180,000 plus bonus commensurate with level of relevant experience and skills- please discuss with Swim.
