Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients / clients / residents and families : Reporting to the Clinical Psychology Residency Coordinator and receiving developmental supervision and clinical direction from Registered Psychologists, the Psychology Resident provides psychological services to assigned patients / clients with a variety of medical, behavioural, psychiatric and other problems. Receives clinical training within a competency-based model largely focused on psychodiagnostic assessment and psychotherapeutic interventions occurring within the context of clinical rotations aligned with specific training goals, in the areas of : 1) Inpatient Psychiatry, 2) Outpatient Mental Health, 3) Early Psychosis Intervention Services; 4) Neuropsychology; 5) Tertiary-Care Psychiatry; 6) Cardiac Services; 7) Primary Care and 8) Consult / Liaison Psychiatry Services on Medical / Surgical Inpatient wards. The Resident contributes to departmental and organizational mandates and goals related both to Royal Columbian Hospital as an academic health centre, and Fraser Health patient care services. Responsibilities The Resident will develop a specific training plan, with measurable outcomes and timeframes to work towards training competencies, as determined in collaboration with the Residency Coordinator and the designated supervising Registered Psychologists. Delivers a comprehensive range of assessment and treatment services under the supervision of a Supervising Psychologist. Documents assessments, patient contacts, treatment plans and outcomes, under the co-signature of a Supervising Psychologist. May supervise and provide evaluation for Psychology practicum students, as appropriate, under the direction of a Supervising Psychologist. Maintains currency in the scientific literature relevant to area(s) of practice and in the application of scientific evidence to clinical decision-making. Participates in a variety of standard and ad-hoc Resident learning activities such as planned individual and group supervision, a Program Development and Evaluation project, case presentations and seminars. Will be responsible to provide at minimum, two case presentations to the Psychology Department at Royal Columbian Hospital during the period of training. Performs other related duties as assigned, under supervision. Qualifications Completion of all academic requirements from an approved Doctoral-level Clinical Psychology Program (PhD or PsyD), including graduate-level courses relating to psychopathology, general assessment, and psychotherapy and successful defense of doctoral dissertation proposal, as well as total hours of practicum experience including assessment and psychotherapy inclusive of hours of direct practicum experience as approved by the applicable graduate program. Qualifications may also include enrolment in either a CPA or APA Accredited program as well as experience across a range of populations and settings including in a hospital-based, mental health care centre.
