REPORTS TO: Director/Paramedic Chief LOCATION: Initial Placement – Savannah Oaks Headquarters, Brantford Minimum Qualifications: Certified as a Primary or Advanced Care Paramedic.
A post-secondary education, preferably in the Health Sciences Field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Paramedic Services field, in a supervisory capacity within a unionized environment Advanced knowledge of Ambulance Act and Regulations, Patient Care Standards, Vehicle/Equipment Standards, Human Rights Code, OHSA, related employment and labour legislation Knowledge of current purchasing practices within the industry.
Knowledge of creating and responding to RFPs and RFQs would be an asset Proven analytic ability to ensure compliance with standards and continuous improvement in service delivery Proven ability to apply and implement safe work practices Dedicated to a high degree of professionalism and setting standards of excellence Excellent leadership abilities and capable of promoting harmony, good morale and encouraging teamwork Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion Demonstrated strategic planning, mediation and negotiation skills Demonstrated public relations, organizational, problem solving, financial management and change management skills Valid F driver’s license complete with acceptable driver’s abstract Valid and acceptable police records check including vulnerable sector check Duties: Develops operational policies and procedures as well as performance standards in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term care requirements.
Ensure overall responsibility and accountability of all aspects of the deployment and utilization of paramedic resources, operational policies, and resources to maintain efficiency and effectiveness of the service provided.
Oversee deployment of master schedule 24/7.
Direct Commanders, Superintendents and/or paramedics in coordinated response to major incidents or disasters.
Works with specialty funding opportunities (i.e.
Dedicated Offload Funding) to offset operational costs where appropriate.
Provide coverage and support for the Paramedic Chief and Leadership Team as required.
Provide support to the commanders and superintendents and system through a shared on-call schedule .
Plan, manage and maintain cost efficient and effective day-to-day paramedic service operation in compliance with all related acts, regulations, standards, policies and procedures Analyze, recommend and implement innovative cost-effective strategies to deliver quality services Interact in a cooperative manner with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Emergency Health Services Brant, Hamilton Central Ambulance Communications Centre, and the local Base Hospital Program (CPER) Liaise and establish positive partnerships with external agencies and system partners to positively impact patient care, employee relations and financial resources/obligations.
Assist in leading and managing the division H&S programs and policies, provide oversight to the JHSC.
