Public Health Inspector Intern - Practicum
The Durham Region Health Department has positions available for Student Public Health Inspectors.
Responsibilities :
Under the supervision / guidance of a Certified Public Health Inspector mentor :
- Conduct inspections of food premises as assigned, and determine compliance with appropriate legislation
- Conduct inspections of regulated and non-regulated recreational water facilities to determine compliance with legislation and / or guidance documents
- Conduct inspections of personal service settings and child care centres to determine compliance with legislation and / or guidance documents
- Investigate notification of animal bite / scratch incidents in order to prevent potential rabies transmission to victims, confirm rabies vaccination status of cats and dogs
- Conduct interviews and educates clients about infectious diseases. Investigate reports of communicable diseases / outbreak
- Respond to community complaints or concerns by investigating potential health hazards and determine course of action
- Perform other duties as assigned
