Reporting to the Finance Manager Controllership, the Senior Accountant (SA) will be responsible for a broad range of financial accountabilities and financial services in a multi-site environment working with designated client portfolios within the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The SA will build effective, collaborative relationships and work strategically with internal client departments, programs and CAMH management to provide financial analysis, reporting and accounting services.
The incumbent will assist the Finance Manager Controllership with all month end financial reporting tasks and internal and external audit preparations including coordination / preparation of audit working papers. The SA will ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and on a timely basis and will be responsible for reconciling selected higher risk accounts; complete monthly / quarterly financial reporting including variance analysis and executive summaries; regularly review and improve internal controls; accurately complete the HST monthly filings to CRA; assist with cash flow forecasts; Balance Sheet Reconciliations, continuity schedules and prepare Journal Entries; review and document financial procedures and processes; provide strategic / business advice; coordinate and deliver appropriate training and professional / technical assistance to ensure accurate financial reporting; and work with other team members in Finance to ensure financial integrity of the General Ledger reporting structures and the Budget / Forecast computer software.
Other responsibilities include : ensure compliance with appropriate CAMH policies, MIS Guidelines, CICA Handbook and Government Regulations; and participate in other special projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned periodically. Minimum Requirements
You will possess a University degree in a related field, and professional designation of CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent. A minimum of 5 years of related working experience is required. Experience working in a hospital or health care setting is an asset. Knowledge of the Health Care sector and the Ministry of Health reporting requirements is preferred. Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required. Proficiency in Lawson would be advantageous. Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and software applications, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly is a must.
We are looking for demonstrated business experience in financial reporting, financial statements preparation, financial analysis, reconciliations, general accounting processes and fiduciary requirements. Experience working on financial system and / or process improvement projects is preferred.
We require a self-starter who has the ability to work both independently and / or as a team member with minimal supervision. The successful candidate must have excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external departments are required. The successful candidate must have the ability to work accurately under stressful conditions and meet tight deadlines. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning / working, as well as collaboration and teamwork. You will demonstrate the ability and interest in working with a diverse team and in an environment that values diversity and equity. Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
This position is the office is located at 100 Stokes Street.
