Job Description
Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced tax professional to oversee compliance, strategy, and planning in a complex corporate environment. This role involves managing tax obligations for holding companies and a family office, working closely with the CFO and corporate controller to optimize financial structures and ensure operational efficiency.
The Tax Manager will be working closely with the CFO and corporate controller. Beyond routine tax management, this position adds value to unique aspects of the family holding structure. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, stakeholder collaboration, strategic planning, and adaptability. A hands-on approach, ownership mindset, and curiosity are essential for navigating evolving financial and operational needs.
What Our Client Has to Offer
Our client is a privately owned Canadian business and has grown over the past 50 years into a diverse group of companies. Since its founding, the business has remained under family ownership and management. This is a newly created role designed to enhance their internal capabilities in tax compliance, consulting, and strategic advisory. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong technical background in Canadian tax, and will gain exposure to diverse responsibilities within a dynamic family office setting. This position stands out for its exceptional work-life balance—a rare find in the industry. You’ll have the flexibility and support to thrive both professionally and personally, making this an ideal choice for those who value career growth without compromising their quality of life.
Responsibilities
Tax Advisory
Collaborate with Canadian, U.S., and Mexican tax advisors to identify savings and efficiency opportunities. Support estate planning, corporate transactions, and wealth structuring in partnership with the CFO. Monitor and update tax instalments and projections, ensuring proactive financial management aligned with business objectives.
Treasury
Assist the Corporate Controller with cash flow analysis and financial projections. Manage fund transfers by drafting fund flow memos and journal entries while coordinating with legal and financial advisors to ensure accurate financial transactions.
Tax Compliance
Manage corporate tax filings across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations. Lead CRA audits with a strategic, risk-based approach while handling correspondence. Prepare Canadian tax elections for reorganization transactions and assist with U.S. tax compliance. Maintain financial record-keeping for the family office, overseeing personal holdings, trusts, and regulatory filings.
Other Special Projects
Work alongside the CFO on various initiatives beyond core tax and treasury functions, adapting to evolving business needs and contributing to broader financial strategies.
