We’re looking for a Safety Manager to partner with our mills, woodlands, and operational teams across the organization. This role can be based out of any location we have an office or operating facility. Strong relationships are built on‑site, and this role involves up to % travel, depending on which Tolko office you call home.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Minimum 7- years experience in a senior occupational health and safety role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Proven experience collaborating across multiple sites to influence real, on‑the‑ground change.
- Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (such as CRSP, CSP, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong understanding of Canadian and occupational health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with operational leaders to embed safety into daily decision‑making.
- Strong business acumen and curiosity to understand operations, risks, and production realities – using that insight to proactively drive safer outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to front‑line teams, operational leaders, and executive leadership.
- Track record of developing, implementing, and auditing safety programs and policies.
- Experience in training program development and delivery.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem‑solving and report‑writing skills.
- Capacity to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.

In this role, you will:
- Act as a strategic partner to operations and leaders on all occupational health and safety matters.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Safety and Asset Protection Advisors (Canada) and Safety Managers regulatory compliance initiatives across all Tolko operating jurisdictions.
- Drive implementation and continuous improvement of Tolko’s safety standards, with a strong focus on leadership behaviours and safety culture.
- Partner with Woodlands Managers to develop and sustain effective contractor safety programs.
- Coach and influence leaders at all levels to strengthen safety accountability and consistency.
- Lead development and delivery of occupational health and safety and safety leadership training.
- Oversee our Claims Management Program to support injured employees and minimize disruptions.
- Develop and execute internal and external audit programs to measure compliance and program effectiveness.
- Report on safety performance, inspections, regulatory changes, and emerging issues to leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders.
